Terms of Use.
What this is
Outposts is a goal-tracking game. You set a goal, check in against it, and a village grows or falls apart accordingly. Six islands — Ironpeak, Downtown, Hollowgrove, Stillwater, Hearthwick and Greyspire — are each a different kind of goal on the same game. An account lives on one island at a time, with one village there, among real other people and one shared world. You can sail to another island, which erases the village you leave behind (your house, coins, iron, streak, goal, outpost and yard) and keeps your account (your name, username, face, friends and gems).
It is a test build. Things will break, features will change, and there may be periods where it does not work at all. It is provided as-is, with no warranty and no promise that it will keep running.
Who can use it
Outposts is for people 18 and older. You can start a village as a guest, but saving it to an email — which an outpost or a friend needs — asks for your birth month and year and refuses below that age — one account per person.
Your account
You sign in with a one-time email. It carries two ways in — a link you can tap, and a six-digit code you can type, whichever suits where you opened the app. Both are credentials: anyone who can read that email can sign in as you, so do not forward it. The code is good for an hour, and asking for a new one cancels the old. If you think someone else has access to your account, sign out from Settings and write to us.
What we store about your account, versus about each village you make on an island, is set out in the Privacy Policy: broadly, your username (which is also your display name), face, invite code, friends, gems, age band, consent record, and your reminder time and notification choices are the account's; your goal, check-ins, house, coins and outpost membership on a given island are that village's.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, and take a copy of your data with you before you do. Deletion is immediate and permanent.
What you post
Your milestone updates and anything you write in an outpost feed are shown to the other members of that outpost. Your username is seen more widely — by your outpost, by anyone on that island who looks at your outpost, by your friends, and by anyone in a friend request with you; the Privacy Policy lists exactly who. Your goal sentence is not: it is private by default, it never appears in a feed line, and a neighbour or friend can read it only if you turn its privacy switch off on your own goal screen. A check-in can carry a short optional note, which joins the feed the same way, only while your goal is public. You keep whatever rights you have in what you write; by posting it you allow us to store it and show it to your outpost, for as long as it is there. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.
Check-ins and vouches. A neighbour can tap Vouch on a public check-in of yours; it is a social gesture only, visible to that outpost, and never changes anything the game pays or scores.
Please do not:
- post anything abusive, hateful, threatening, or aimed at harassing someone;
- post anyone else's personal information;
- impersonate another person;
- use it to advertise, spam, or recruit;
- attack, probe, or try to break the service, or use it through anything other than the app itself.
What is written into an outpost is checked against a maintained list of blocked words before it is stored. We can remove content and close accounts that break these rules. Outposts is moderated by its founders on an in-app moderator screen: a report you file is read there, never automatically acted on, and the person you report is never told who reported them. The Privacy Policy explains exactly how long a report's copy of what was said is kept.
This is not health advice
Outposts is a game about keeping to something you decided to do. It is not medical, psychological, fitness or financial advice, and nothing in it — the guide's lines included — is a professional opinion. Decide your own goals sensibly, and talk to a qualified person about anything that matters to your health.
The game's own rules
Coins, iron and gems are in-game numbers with no value outside the game. They cannot be bought, sold, transferred or converted into anything, and nothing in the game costs real money. A missed check-in costs a small number of coins from that village's own pile — the same kind of rule as decay to your house. Reward items and the Finisher's pennant are earned by playing and are never bought, sold or traded. Game balance may change at any time, and a test build may be reset.
An outpost is shared property: one you found keeps existing, for its other members, after you leave or delete your account — without your name or anything you wrote attached to it.
If something goes wrong
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data, missed goals, or anything that follows from the service being unavailable or wrong. Nothing here limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
Changes, and getting in touch
If these terms change in a way that matters, the version number at the top changes and you will be asked to agree again, once. This version is 2026-09-19. Questions go to outposts@galliainc.com.
